Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council's Registration Service is responsible for the registration of births, deaths and marriages and civil partnerships occurring within the Borough.

It licenses venues where civil marriages and civil partnerships may be conducted and registered and also provides other services such as renewal of vows ceremonies. Both the bride and groom are legally required to give a notice of marriage, in person, at the local register office.
