Youth Work Training

The training opportunities available in the Training Programme for 2011/2012(please see Document Links on the right hand side of this page) have been identified through a process of consultation with staff working with young people across the Borough in both the Statutory and Voluntary Sectors of Services for Young People.

In addition, specific training has been identified as local and national priority areas, these training opportunities will support youth workers in the implementation of the Merthyr Tydfil Youth Service Strategy and the Welsh Government's Extending Entitlement agenda.

Training will equip those working with young people with the knowledge base, skills and attitude needed to support them in their work and to ensure that services deliver quality programmes of youth activities and learning opportunities to young people across the Borough.

The Merthyr Tydfil Youth Service forms part of the Regional Training Forum which implements training across Caerphilly, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and The Vale of Glamorgan.

Youth Workers from Merthyr Tydfil are able to access training that is implemented on a regional basis.  In addition youth workers across the regions can access training that is undertaken in Merthyr Tydfil via the Youth Service Annual Training Programme.  This partnership arrangement ensures that youth workers can access a wide range of training and development opportunities that meet their needs.

Training places are allocated through an application process, please complete the application form which can be found in the Training Programme for 2011/2012 and return to:
