People are finding that credit reference agencies and banks are using the Electoral Register to approve mortgages, loans, credit cards and even mobile phone contracts!

.......but the ultimate reason for compiling the Electoral Register is to enable you to vote at elections and referendums.

At the moment the authority is undertaking an Annual Canvass of residential properties within Merthyr Tydfil to confirm the details of adults living at each address. 

If you have received a final reminder within the last two weeks you will may be visited by a canvasser following up non-responders.  If you are unsure about the validity of the caller, please telephone the elections office on 01685 725284.

The next election for a Police and Crime Commissionert is to take place on Thursday 15th November 2012, so your registration is important to enable you to vote.
