Voting by post is a convenient way of voting if you are unable to get to the polling station.
You do not need a reason for a postal vote - anyone who is on the electoral register and eligible to vote can apply for what is becoming an extremely popular means of voting.
Applications can be made for all future elections, or for a set time period e.g. if you are working away for a few months, or even for one specific election because you're going to be busy that particular day.
For the Police and Crime Commissioner Election on Thursday 15th November 2012, the closing date for receipt of postal vote applications is 5pm on 31st October 2012.
If you don't want a postal vote but cannot get to the polling station, you could possibly apply for a proxy vote. For further information about this and about postal voting, or to access an application form, visit www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or telephone or email the electoral department on 01685 725284 / electoral@merthyr.gov.uk and we will be happy to help.
