Young Peoples Drop-In Activities

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council provides a statutory Youth Service for young people aged 11 - 25, with a key focus on supporting young people aged 13 - 19 as they transition through into adult hood.  The service enables young people to access a diverse range of experiences, support and opportunities within their social and recreational time which contributes towards young people's development as both individuals and citizens of the Borough.

Youth opportunities are developed and delivered in partnership with both the voluntary sector and young people themselves. The Youth Service both nationally and locally is committed to core principles that ensure the participation of young people within decision making processes. The priorities for the service were agreed by young people and the community and resulted in the current Youth Service Strategy 2011 - 2014 (please see Document Links on the right hand side of this page).  The performance of the service has also been reported on through the external assessment of the service as part of the wider Youth Support Services Inspection by Estyn in 2007.  For a copy of the report please visit the Estyn website (see External Links on the right hand side of this page).
