Archives are original records accumulated naturally during the course of the life of a business, an individual, a family, a school, a chapel, or any other group, public or private that are no longer in current use.

This service is not provided by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. The Records Office that provides services to us is Glamorgan Archives.

Glamorgan Archives also serves the County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Caerphilly, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Vale of Glamorgan and the City and County of Cardiff by collecting and preserving archival records, making them accessible to the public. It has over 8 kilometres of records, dating from the twelfth century to the present day.

The types of records that can be viewed include;

  • Paper
