Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre

 

Located within the Brecon Beacons National Park Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre has to offer a wide variety of interesting and exciting land and water based activities in a unique and picturesque location. Qualified and experienced instructors provide education through involvement in various adventure pursuits.

 

Dolygaer also provides accommodation facilities for those wishing to stay over-night, with both camping and bunkhouse facilities. The centre can also be used as a base for School groups, youth groups and those involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for expeditions and training.

 

 

Activities
 
Dolygaer has a wide variety of activities that visitors to the centre will have the opportunity to try out. Previous experience is not necessary and all abilities will be catered for. Activities will be determined by the weather and group size.

 

All specialist equipment is provided, and a detailed kit list will be sent to you on confirmation of booking.

Camping

There is a small campsite available for Duke of Edinburgh award groups. Those wishing to use the campsite will have access to facilities on site at Dolygaer please contact the centre to make a booking prior to arrival.

Schools
At Dolygaer we are experienced in catering for school groups through our outdoor education programmes for schools.


Our experienced and qualified staff can organise a wide range of activities which follow current national curriculum guidelines to provide “learning by doing” for the children (and adults). Activities can be arranged to contribute to learning across the core subjects.


Not only will they gain new knowledge and skills but also gain self confidence & Self esteem in a unique educational environment.

Corporate Groups

At Dolygaer we have vast experience of designing and running Team Building and Development Training courses.


Courses are individually tailored to suit our clients, many of whom have returned to Dolygaer time and again, after discovering how outdoor training has been positively transferred to the workplace.

Accommodation at Dolygaer 
There is a choice of accommodation available as a base for adventure activities at Dolygaer.


 

The Bunkhouse
The newly converted bunkhouse offers inexpensive but comfortable self catering accommodation with a view, at the gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The facilities are suitable for families, groups, backpackers, cyclists, ramblers & individuals as a base to explore the spectacular scenery of the beacons or as a ‘stop over’ accommodation for the night.


There are parking facilities available at the centre, and bicycle and equipment storage is available on request.


The bunkhouse provides accommodation for 10 persons and is divided into two bunk rooms. The one bunk room provides sleeping space for up to 6 persons the other sleeps 4 persons. All bed linen is provided, however guests will have to bring their own towels. Both rooms have en-suite facilities with a shared kitchenette.


The well equipped kitchen has all basic facilities including a microwave, kettle, fridge, toaster and a range of cooking utensils. There is also a drying room for all your wet gear.


Bunkhouse Rates as follows:
Per Person Per Night (On a Shared Basis):    £15
Family Rate (based on four sharing):    £45
Sole Use of the Bunkhouse or Groups of 8 or more: £100

Residential Accommodation
The recently refurbished residential accommodation is ideal for large groups and provides sleeping space for up to 44 persons. There are 10 rooms each with 4 beds with shared shower and toilet facilities an additional 2 en-suite bedrooms each with 2 beds are also available. All rooms have access to a fully catered kitchen, lounge and dining room area which can also be used as a conference room with digital projector and DVD & video facilities.

Safe Practice

Staff at Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre have many years experience in running outdoor education activities and pride themselves on their excellent safety record. The Centre operates under strict risk management systems and thorough risk assessments and operating procedures are undertaken and detailed by the centre.

All Activities are led by suitable qualified staff all of which hold a relevant National Governing Body Qualification in accordance with current guidelines.


The Centre holds an AALA (Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority) Licence. To find out more about holding an AALA licence, information can be found on the Licensing Authority’s website

 

 

 

How to Book
To make a provisional booking please contact Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre. If you are making a School booking; school information packs are available to download with all relevant booking forms attached.

Terms & Conditions

 

 


Fees
Places can only be reserved on receipt of a complete booking form and a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total course fee.


Places cannot be reserved over the telephone.


The balance of the fee is payable EIGHT WEEKS before the start of the course. Failure to pay the balance at this stage may result in the cancellation of the booking and loss of the deposit.


The WHOLE course fee is required as a deposit to reserve any booking made within EIGHT WEEKS of the start of the course.

 
Cancellation or Variation in Group Size by Clients
All cancellations or variations in the group size must be in writing.
Cancellation or variations up to EIGHT WEEKS before the start of the course incurs loss of deposit only.


If less than EIGHT WEEKS notice of cancellation or variation is given, after payment of the balance of the fee, then 80% of the total fee will be retained.


Cancellation or variation within the final TWO WEEKS before the start of the course will result in the forfeit of 100% of the total fee.


When the total number of persons in the group falls below the number of places booked the above conditions apply per person.


All course fees are non-transferable. Any transfers which may be made under exceptional circumstances are wholly at the discretion of Dolygaer.
 
Cancellation by Dolygaer
Whilst every attempt is made to ensure the advertised courses actually run, Dolygaer reserves the right to cancel at any time when numbers fail to reach a workable minimum.


In this event, as much notice as possible will be given and clients will be offered the following options: a full refund of fees, another course at the same time or the same course on different dates.
