As well as the County Borough Council, the DE&T and ELWa, the Partnership also includes the Chamber of Commerce, local Business Eye office, ICT centre, Job Centre Plus, Merthyr Tydfil College, Venture Wales, Welsh Assembly Government, Finance Wales, and Wales Trade International.
The Partnership meets regularly to discuss business support priorities for the area and to share and disseminate information.
Business Support Team
The Business Support Team is part of the Regeneration Department which supports business creation, investment, expansion and success by offering a range of services to businesses throughout the County Borough.
The team works closely with all its business support partners (including the WDA and ELWa) and holds regular meetings of the Merthyr Tydfil Business Partnership. As well as being able to provide advice on sites and premises, the team can also provide financial assistance to qualifying businesses through the Merthyr Tydfil Business Support Package.
The Council offers a number of different grants to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and can also financially assist individuals establishing their own business.
Within the team there is also a dedicated Business Environment Co-ordinator who works with Groundwork Merthyr and Rhondda Cynon Taff to offer advice on a range of environmental issues.
