Local Transport IssuesCar Share Scheme
If you travel to work by car and are fed up with the congestion, particularly on the journey to Cardiff or beyond, why not consider a car sharing option with like minded drivers.
This reduces the numbers of vehicles on the roads, is environmentally friendly, relieves you of the stress of having to drive every day and decreases the strain on your pocket or purse by spending less on fuel.
Merthyr Tydfil CBC as part of its partnership in SEWTA (South East Wales Transport Alliance) is promoting a car share scheme to enable you to get into contact with other people in the area who are willing to car share.
You should visit www.sewtacarshare.com to register your interest. Happy travelling.

Local Transport Plan
The Welsh Assebmly Government in the year 2000 required all Unitary Authorities in Wales to produce a Local Transport Plan (LTP).
This Plan is intended to outline how each Authority intends to deliver its local transportation services through a set of policies and programmes over a period of 5 years up to 2005. The Authority was also required to produce an Annual Progress Report in 2002 and annually thereafter up to 2005.
The Local Transport Plan for Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and the Annual Progress Reports carried out in 2002, 2003 2004 and 2005 are attached below for information.
These documents must be read in conjunction for a full appreciation of the current position.
