Annual Canvass 2008/2009 HAVE YOU COMPLETED AND RETURNED YOUR ELECTORAL REGISTRATION FORM?
Do so and you will be entitled to VOTE!!
Every year, between August and November, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council delivers a Registration form to your home. This is known as the Annual Canvass and the information you provide will allow us to include your name on the Electoral Register which will allow you to vote.
The information is also used by Credit Reference Agencies to check residency. If you are not included, it will affect your ability to obtain credit cards and store cards, loans from banks and building societies, and you won't even be able to set up mobile phone contracts.
You can be included on the Register if you are:
- 16 years old and over and
- either a British citizen, or
- an Irish, Commonwealth or European Citizen who is resident in the UK.
To complete the form simply check that the pre-printed names are correct and if they are, you can either reply by post, via the internet, freephone or by text.
However, if there are pre-printed names on the form that are no longer at your address or someone living at your address has been missed off, spelt incorrectly or reached the age of 16 since last year's canvass, please ensure you make those changes before posting the form back to us.
Don't forget to reply!! Not responding or providing false information could potentially land you with a £1,000 fine!!
