Who are we?
LACES is a team of workers who offer support to looked after children, social workers, schools and foster carers to ensure that all children and young people in care have access to a good quality education and the necessary support to improve their life chances.
It is vital we have high aspirations for the children and young people for whom we have corporate parenting responsibility, maximising their access to education so that they achieve their full academic potential.
The LACES team is comprised of a team manager (The LAC Education Coordinator) and currently three LSA’s (learning support assistants). There is an allocated LACES worker for each Merthyr Tydfil school. The LACES team works closely in conjunction with colleagues in social care, psychology, the ALN team and pupil support to provide a cohesive package of support to all children in Merthyr Tydfil care.
