Description:
To lead, manage and direct the work of the Education Welfare Service in supporting the work of the Integrated Children’s Services department; the support of schools; and the vision of the Council.
Manage and direct the work of the Education Welfare Service in supporting the strategies of the Integrated Children’s Services department; the support of schools; and the vision of the Council.

Provide, advice to/and support the Team Leader Pupil Services and Head of Service in the discharge of statutory duties in respect of pupil attendances at schools, including the prosecution of cases recommended for legal proceedings.

Develop and implement strategies to improve pupil attendances at school.

To work with pupils, parents and schools to promote attendance.

Promote pupil inclusion through innovative and collaborative ways of working that promote attendance and tackle exclusion, including close working relations with the police, the courts and other agencies involved with pupil welfare.

Be the lead officer on safeguarding/child protection matters within the division and to act as the safeguarding/child protection officer with responsibility for schools.
