Key aim:

Community Learning Wales aims to provide innovative, affordable and accessible learning opportunities for all members of our communities – at a time, in a place, at a pace and through a curriculum that meets the needs of both individuals and local communities.

Key Objectives:

To develop the capacity of individuals and groups to improve the quality of life in their communities.                       

  1. To enable individuals to fulfil their potential.
  2. To make learning local and easily accessible.
  3. To support all individuals to access learning that meets their needs – whatever they might be.

 Community Learning Wales provides:

  • Whoever they are – carers, unemployed people, older people,adults learning with their family or people hoping to return to work.
  • People taking first steps back into learning.
  • By reaching out to new learners – often those with few skills and no qualifications.

 

An agenda for cultural diversity

  • Working with all ethnic groupings.
  • Promoting bilingualism for adults.

 

     A way of gaining skills by

  • Developing a skills based community.
  • Enabling progression from basic skills.
  • Encouraging adults to retrain.

 

     An investment in communities by

  • Empowering communities and individuals.
  • Supporting and developing local people to become local tutors.
  • Supporting and enabling groups to tackle community issues.
  • Resourcing community regeneration, active citizenship and capacity building.

 

     An improvement in communications

  • Through e-learning opportunities.
  • Helping people access and understand information.
  • Encouraging individuals to develop self-confidence and gain new skills.
