A celebratory event was held at Cwm Golau Integrated Children’s Centre to mark the success of the New Pathways Programme.  Councillors, parents, teachers and partner agencies joined together to celebrate the success of this objective 1- funded programme which has seen over 1500 parents and carers benefit from exciting training and learning experiences. The programme has also provided over 300 childcare places for parents and carers accessing it.

A Success Story

The success of New Pathways is a result of the strong partnership links which have been established during the lifetime of the programme.

21 learners who took part in the Family Programmes spoke at the event. Carl Gummer who joined the PAL project and went on to join an access course at Merthyr College, spoke of his time spent with his son which took place in the school “PAL gave me so much confidence to support my son in his learning.” Angela who has accessed numerous learning opportunities and is now on the part-time “Certificate of Childcare and Education” course at Cwm Golau, told the audience “My confidence and knowledge has grown and the creche service has allowed me to continue learning, my daughter loves it!”

Making the closing remarks, Councilor Jeff Edwards referred to Cwm Golau Intergated Children's Centre as the Centre for service delivery and congratulated the New Pathways team.  Ann James, manager of  New Pathways, summed up the morning: "The success of the programme is due to a wonderful team effort and the continued  support of the partner agencies. It’s this joined- up effort which has made such a huge difference to the impact of the programme. A big thank you to everyone!"
