Early Years and Childcare Development

The EYDCP is committed in working with the statutory and voluntary sector in the developing of new and existing childcare throughout Merthyr Tydfil. They also work with childcare providers within the County Borough to ensure sustainability and quality are maintained. 

Four strands of grants have been developed and are available for new or existing providers from the voluntary, public and private sectors.  The childcare providers need to demonstrate that they provide services within the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil and are, or will be registered, with the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales.

What can be funded?

• The development of new and extending existing childcare places
• The development of childminding facilities within the County Borough
• The sustaining of existing childcare provision
• Assisted childcare places for parents/carers who are unable to access childcare
