Childcare Sufficiency Audit
A requirement of the Childcare Act 2006 is that all local authorities carry out an audit of sufficiency of childcare within their local authority. The Local Authority must ensure childcare is available for parents in work or training, those with disabled children and welsh medium childcare provision. In preparation for this duty, the local authority must prepare a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA). Essentially, this is an analysis of the current supply of, and demand for, childcare. These findings will determine where we target our future resources.
Melyn Consulting will be carrying out the audit on behalf of Merthyr Tydfil. Childcare providers, parents and employers are all encouraged to express their views on existing childcare provision within Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, and what they would like to see developed in the future.
