Language and Play The Merthyr Tydfil Language and Play Programme began in January 2003, and since then many parents and their young children, have enjoyed the early learning experiences that LAP has offered.
Being a parent is the most important job in your life and the most challenging. We believe you are your child’s first and most important educator, and would like to share some ideas that will really make a difference to both you and your baby or young child.
Babies and young children have an extraordinary capacity to learn. Songs, rhymes, and simple activities are used to show parents how they can make the most of ordinary daily routines, such as shopping and washing up, and in doing so encourage early language development in a fun and caring environment.
We want young children in Merthyr Tydfil to enjoy lots of stories and songs and, through these, switch them on to learning. Did you know that children who know many songs and rhymes are more likely to read and write more easily than those who know fewer rhymes!
