Becta Self Review Framework
A Self Review Framework in Wales
The BECTA self review framework (SRF) is the result of collaboration between BECTA, Ofsted, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), the Training and Development Agency (TDA), the National College for School Leadership (NCSL), the four UK Education Departments, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and Naace, alongside advice and guidance from a wider range of partners and stakeholders.
The Welsh Assembly Government piloted the SRF and ICT Mark between September 2006 and March 2007 with 26 schools across Wales. Caedraw Primary School and Cyfarthfa High School took part in this pilot. The participating schools expressed strong support for the scheme.
Of the participating schools, 19 schools proceeded to the ICT Mark accreditation (this was not a mandatory element of the pilot). Caedraw Primary School successfully acheived the ICT Mark.
3 Welsh schools were nominated for the BECTA ICT Excellence awards following their ICT Mark success. Caedraw Primary School won the award for primary runner-up in the Inclusion category. This award ceremony took place on the 5th November 2007.
The Wales Schools ICT Strategy Working Group have recommended that Wales adopt the SRF and recognise the ICT Mark as a national accreditation scheme for schools.
All schools can freely use the BECTA self review framework online.
