YOUTH SERVICE
The youth service in Merthyr Tydfil county borough is delivered as part of the Community Education service, which sits within the Integrated Adult Services Directorate. The service works to the nationally agreed Curriculum Statement for Wales which requires it to work with young people between the ages of 11 and 21 with an emphasis on the age range of 14 – 19.
The Service (Community Education) is managed as part of “lifelong learning” alongside social services, skills development, social behaviour, crime and disorder and voluntary groups.
The youth service provides a wide variety of services for young people including targeted provision and a network of seventeen local authority provided centres, in addition the service works with a variety of voluntary sector organisations.
