The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them

24/7 Stock return box at Dowlais
There could be all sorts of reasons why you may wish to be able to return library stock when our buildings are closed. The simplest reason would be If you forget to return stock before a holiday or realised that you still have library books when you are moving house or even leaving the area.
You can now use a 24/7 "drop box" located at the corner of Dowlais Library (nearest the main road). This box is for any stock returns from all members and it is not just for returning Dowlais stock.
As well as increasing your everyday options, this option will help you to remove any issues with outstanding stock. Returning books and other items this way will not remove any liability for fines or other charges, but, given that our main priority is to recover the stock, it will mean that we will not pursue the outstanding books and penalties. If we get he books back intact you will hear no more from us until you are ready to resolve the other issues.
You may not have considered...

Self-service has many advantages and allows us to open longer that we otherwise would.

Telling us your opinions...
How do you rate library staff? We regularly consult service users and are pleased that the scores and comments have been continually improving since 1990! However, we know there is always room for improvement in communication and our improvement progress simply isn't finished yet.
We are already working within the service to come up with a description of our ideal member of staff along with practical guidelines to help all of us to improve our interaction with users. That could be in the form of an example of good service - and why you thought it was excellent. We would like you to contribute to that process if you wish to. Simply send your suggestions for further staff (or general service improvements) to library.services@merthyr.gov.uk
Please tell us if you have any difficulty with this site or the links to provide to Internet sites. We cannot always control those, but we will act on any reported problems.
