Elite Athletes SchemeThe Elite athlete scheme is designed to support international Sportsmen and women in Merthyr Tydfil. It provides free access to a range of training within local authority facilities for a full year. It covers all age groups, with the aim of the scheme being to help local athletes to improve their standards of performance, thus helping them to reach their full potential..
Who can Apply?
The scheme runs for one year from International selection and is only available to residents of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
It covers both juniors and seniors at full international representative level with the recognised sporting governing body. Unfortunately the scheme does not extend to those who have simply been selected for national training or development squads.
How can we help you?
If you are eligible for the scheme, you will be entitled to:
- Free Use of changing rooms & Showers
- Free use of Fitness Suite
- Free use of Swimming Pools
- Free use of facilities at off peak time (8am -4pm Mon to Sun)
To have full free use of courts all/both players must have elite athlete status. All of the facilities offered are subject to availability and to negotiations with the centre manager.
