Your views are important to us

So please let us know what you think.

You may .. comment on any aspect the library service.

.. Receive details about the ways that the Library Service can serve you and your community.

.. Tell us why you like a book, subject or author - or just try something new.

.. Get more involved with local history.

There can be delays in providing fuller replies to some enquiries, especially if the question related to various aspects of local history.

However, you will not be kept waiting without a response for longer than a few days - as a typical user acknowledged today:

"Thank you very much for your quick reply to my query"

Any response time  naturally depends on us receiving the message. E-mail can still be unreliable, so always resent an unacknowledged message and do whatever you can to confirm receipt if you do not hear from us in two working days.

All enquiries receive a personal reply, but please do not address letters to particular members of staff. All mail is processed centrally and directed to the appropriate person or someone in the team who is also  "covering" that role. No cheques should ever be sent to individuals. Please do not send us any cash!

Please note: No member of staff can accept "private" correspondence within our official capacities. The authority therefore reserves the right to open any correspondence directed to any particular staff members

Items marked "Personal" are likely to be returned to sender

Under the same principles we will not usually forward mail to current and former staff or to library members.

We will certainly  not give personal contact details of any member of staff or anyone who uses the library without asking their permission, although we will consider approaching them with an enquiry if circumstances clearly warrant that
