Access for Learners We are here to help.
We offer convenient library locations and opening hours. These are the services that we provide:
- There are free Internet services at all buildings.
- Full Microsoft Office packages are available on all machines.
- Special computer software is available for users with visual impairment, including a Braille printer at Treharris Library.
- Special equipment is available for users with physical impairment.
- All buildings have a range of computer based scanning and printing options – plus computer based fax facilities (we charge for prints).
- We offer space to study - with opportunities for crèche support while studying at Dowlais Library.
- We will support all housebound learners and their carers - including guaranteed home delivery.
- Stock can be borrowed, renewed or returned using any library site or mobile library.
- Online services
- We offer free online research resources to every Library member with access to the Internet.
- All members have access to a personal online library account with options to search the library collection and reserve or renew items
- An option to e-mail with any request for help and join “Merlin”, and e-mail information service for members.
A range of general learning classes are currently being offered in Dowlais and Treharris Libraries, some free, some with a fee.
Our current class organisers are: Ystrad Mynach College, MTCBC Community Education, Cardiff University and The WEA, but we are planning more in future.
