Outreach

As part of our current review of the mobile service a library now stops at the Co-operative store in Pentrebach - for a trial period - to increase choice, convenience and an awareness of services.

It currently stops Saturday from 10.00 am until 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm until 4.00 pm

We will be reviewing the use of the stop and redirecting the van to other places once we are sure that the growth in use has stopped, but more and more users are discovering the van and appreciating the extra service it offers

Typical viewpoints include the following comments:

“It allows people who cannot get to the other facilities to visit this site when shopping”

"The location is very convenient for anyone living in the Pentrebach/Abercanaid area. It is very conveniently parked up in the front of the Co-op making it easily accessible to anyone shopping at the store. There is no problem parking. There is a good range of stock and the staff are very helpful. If they haven’t got what you want they’ll get it by the next time.”

“I live in Heolgerrig and visit the Co-op stores each Saturday. I find it easier than visiting the main library in town”

“I doubt, if unable to use this location, my being able to continue with the library service elsewhere due to individual circumstances. Being able to combine my shopping needs with my library needs with easy convenient parking, is ideal. Also books contribute to my quality and enjoyment of life to a large measure.”

This service is in ‘line with the times’.”

“Parking. Convenience. Outside standard library hours. Ability to request if choice not on the vehicle.”

“Good for parking. Accessible from A470 on way home from work.

“They consider people who can’t visit the main library, O.A.P. disabled etc.”

"Before this van came I could not go to the public library because I have to park near as I can’t walk very far. At my age of 85 years it has made life easier for me as I can now get my books regularly every Saturday.
