Free Packs and how to use them

The packs contain:

Specially selected board books suitable for babies – one bilingual

Rhymes

Useful leaflets.

The books and leaflets are there to help parents share the please of reading and the books can and should be used from birth.

Reading with a baby has at least three advantages

They respond well to the books, colours and shapes – although you sometimes need to control chewing!

Babies often enjoy – and are comforted by - just hearing the story and the reader’s voice.

If you create a set time for reading you help to create good routines – they can be especially good at night times.

The Bookstart donation gives you books that can become a comforting object for the child. In many cases one that they will learn to read for themselves.

We advise that - whenever possible - you buy a selection of additional books that the child can grow up with, perhaps as a Christmas or birthday gift from relatives.

However, while familiar books are very good, so are new fresh titles and that is where libraries can help.

We can supply large quantities of picture books to make story time interesting for babies, toddlers and carers - to you and your family.

We have more suitable titles for you and your child
