For many people reading is about engagement and enjoyment of a story.
We make a basic mistake if we forget that reading is about content not just a skill -and certainly not the end in itself.
Unfortunately. many young people do think of "reading" as boring, but that is because they often focus on the educational process not the content.
An article in the Independent Magazine by Fiona Sturges highlights that Lemmy of Motorhead - officially the loudest band on earth - "reads copiously". He identifies the point of most fiction in the article...
"Reading's the only thing that allows you to use your imagination. When you watch films it's someone else's vision, isn't it?"
