Estyn Allan
Estyn Allan/Branching Out
Reaching readers through libraries
Estyn Allan was a three year national project involving all 22 local authorities in Wales. It aims to increase access to the richness and diversity of contemporary writing in Welsh and English by using the popular base and extensive networks of the public library service.
Estyn Allan was designed for:
People who feel isolated in their enjoyment of reading by geography, cultural background or disability
People who want to explore contemporary Welsh identities in a context of world culture
People who feel intimidated or excluded by literature culture
People who have been put off reading literature by negative experiences at school
People who feel restricted in their reading choices to popular, well known writers because they lack confidence and/or knowledge of the diverse range of possibilities available.
People who have fallen out of the reading habit
