Christmas classics are top read for Wales

The Nation's favourite Christmas books have been unveiled by Welsh libraries and it seems that when it comes to a good read this festive season people like to stick to tradition.

According to the poll "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens is the most popular festive book and is taken out of libraries more than any other at this time of year.

Also featuring in the top 10 is The Snowman, The Night Before Christmas and The Nutcracker. Modern classics like The Polar Express and How the Grinch Stole Christmas also feature, as does Delia Smith’s Christmas which was the fifth most popular Christmas book.

[A spokesperson for the review said, said: “Forget watching Christmas re-runs on TV, more and more people are settling down with the family to read a good book at this time of year. It’s no surprise that the traditional classics are still the favourites. They are timeless stories that people of all ages can enjoy reading. And with a little help from our other 10 top author Delia, there will be a good meal to enjoy once you are finished!”
