The centre was opened in 1981 and is located at the North of the valley, 1 mile from the town centre of Merthyr Tydfil. You can find us on the Gurnos housing estate opposite the shopping precinct. There is ample free parking available. We offer a friendly atmosphere for adults and children alike. Pop in for general use of the fitness suite or join in one of the classes and courses.
Hosting a varied programme of events including Kung Fu, Keep fit, slimming class and football, the centre also as an outside floodlight 5 aside/hockey pitch. The hall seats some 200 people for concerts weddings, boot sales etc and is an excellent sporting venue for badminton, table tennis, football and netball. There is a fully equipped weights and cardio vascular (CV) room for the general public.
The main building consists of a: -
Ground Floor
· Large hall measuring some 400 square meters, the hall is marked/taped for one Badminton court, one Football/Netball court.
· The hall doubles up as a function hall that can accommodate some 200 people for social events; other events include dog shows, boot sales and church functions.
· A small office/reception area. This area also serves as the shop sales area selling a selection of sweets and drinks.
· Kitchen
· Male and Female changing rooms including toilets.
· Small fitness suite with a number of CV pieces, weight stations and loose weight area.This are will be refurbihed in April 2005
