Preparation and maintenance within the Cemetery

Whilst preparing graves for a burial it may be necessary to place excavated soil upon adjoining graves.  Protective boards will be placed upon the adjoining grave prior to soil being placed thereon and removed immediately after the funeral.  The grave will then be returned to its former state.

In the weeks following a burial, graves can be expected to sink.  This will be attended to in the course of normal, routine cemetery maintenance.

Floral Tributes

Floral tributes after a funeral will be removed after 14 days unless a request for an extension of time is received by the Bereavement Services Office or Cemetery Foreman.

Christmas wreaths/floral tributes can stain a memorial or damage grass if they are left for long periods of time.  Therefore all christmas wreaths/tributes will be removed by 1st February.

We endeavour to maintain all MTCBC cemeteries to the highest possible standard and ensure that the grass is regularly cut.  With so many memorials placed so close together, maintenance (in particular grass cutting) is extremely difficult.  However every effort is made to ensure that memorials will not be harmed in the process.

During the grass cutting season grass may be blown onto memorials, the cuttings will not cause damage to a memorial and can easily be wiped away.
