MemorialsThe importance of a memorial as a means of commemorating the life of a loved one, acting as a focus for grief initially, and, in years to come, as an historical record, is widely recognised.
Please note: In order to place a memorial it is necessary for the next of kin to purchase the Exclusive Rights of Burial of the grave. The ownership of the Exclusive Rights of Burial entitles the owner to arrange the placing of a memorial and, from the date of ownership onwards, only the Exclusive Rights owner can authorise further burial/interment within the grave. The Exclusive Rights owner does NOT, however, own the actual plot of land.
Fitting and Maintenance of Memorials
Only Memorial Masons who are registered with the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons (BRAMM) are allowed to work in MTCBC cemeteries. A list of BRAMM registered Masons is available from the Bereavement Services Office.
