The strategic procurement function was set up in October 2004, and takes responsibility for the effectiveness of the Corporate Procurement Process. It aims to develop Corporate Procurement Activities so that the function can reach its full potential.
In striving towards achieving a first class corporate procurement function we seek to develop procurement competence, improve procurement processes & procedures & maximise efficiency gains in order to deliver value for money and organisational improvements that directly support the overall aims & objectives of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council / its competitive advantage, through making the most of the unique culture offered within the South Wales Valleys.
The role of the Strategic Procurement Function includes providing support, guidance and advice to all parts of the Council on all purchasing activities, as well as linking procurement into the Authorities competitive strategy, in order to facilitate more innovative procurement practices to take place.
