All rent transactions e.g. charges and payments, are recorded on your rent card and you will also receive a quarterly rent statement. If your rent is paid by standing order your bank statement acts as a record.
What Happens If I Don't Pay My Rent?
If you know you are going to be paying late, please contact the Rent Section (01685) 725119 or 725251 and explain the reason why, you need to keep your payments regular. If you fail to pay your rent, the Council will take action through the courts and could recover possession of your home.
Can I Get Any Help With My Rent?
If you are on a low income you can apply for housing benefit [also called rent direct] which can help you with your rent payments. If you find yourself in any financial difficulties please contact the Rent Section (01685) 725119 or 725251 as we can help.
Will My Rent Increase?
Rents are reviewed annually and increased due to rising costs and inflation. You will be informed in writing at least 4 weeks before any increase is introduced.
