Rent Payments
How much to Pay? The amount of rent you have to pay is displayed on your rent card and you will be charged this amount weekly. Your rent is payable on a Monday, in arrears. You can pay monthly if you prefer, but it must be paid in advance.
How can I pay? There are several ways to pay your rent. Take a look at the options below and choose the one most convenient to you.
At your home - the Area Housing Officer will visit your property once a fortnight and collect the payment.
In person at the Banking Hall in the Civic Centre. You can pay by cash, cheque, credit or debit card. If you forget to bring your rent card with you, the cashier will provide you with a receipt which should be kept safe place to answer any future queries.
By post - please ensure that you provide both your rent card and the payment.
By standing Order - Through you bank or building society account. The appropriate form is available from the rent section at the Civic Centre.
By swipe card - at any Post Office. Contact the Rent Section for more details.
By deductions from your wages - only if you are an employee of the Council.
Rent Direct - but you must ensure your housing benefit application form is completed and submitted with all of the appropriate proof of income.

We use a secure system to authorise credit and debit card payments. This service is bi-lingual and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
