Tenant Compact The compact sets out how the Council will, in partnership with the Tenants Groups, involve individual residents in the delivery and continuous improvement of our housing services.
Our compact had been produced by tenant volunteers, TPAS, councillors and housing staff who have worked out the best way for tenants to be at the heart of the decision making process that affects their homes and communities.
The compact means you can:
- be informed about the housing service
- be involved in planning and improving that service
- check how we are performing
- help us identify problems and decide what action to take to make
- improvements
Our Commitment
The compact guarantees our commitment to tenant participation and sets out the standards we should meet.
As part of the compact process, tenants' groups representatives have already looked closely at the housing service, and identified areas where they have more involvement. The council is committed to involving our tenants and residents, in running the housing service, helping us to make decisions that affect your home and estate.
Consultation
The tenancy agreement - our legal contract with you - says that " We must seek your views about housing management issues if they substantially affect you... we will involve any local tenants' group in local housing management issues".
- The compact is our commitment to involving tenants and residents.
- You have the right to start or join a local tenants' and residents'group;
- We will encourage, support and promote involvement by individuals and the community as a whole - at local and Borough-wide level;
- We will provide you with accurate, honest and appropriate information using genuine and effective consultation methods;
- We will use consultation to find out what concerns our tenants not to just solve problems.
