Tenant InvolvementHow to get involved
Tenant and resident participation encourages individuals to make a real contribution to the decisions that affect their homes and communities. The tenants and residents of the County Borough Council, the Housing Divison as well as the Welsh Assembly Government all see participation as an important part of housing management and service improvement.
Why Should I get Involved?
Involvement in the service means that you, as our customers, are able to provide us with a valuable source of feedback, which can lead to you receiving improved services.
Any Organisation works better if it provides its customers with the services they want, in the way they want them delivered. The County Borough Council is no different. We know that involving tenants in the management of their homes and estates is vital to deliver better housing services and improve the quality of life for local communities. Thats why we want the views of individuals who live in our communities... Like you!
The Welsh Assembly Government is challenging all councils in the principality to become more accountable to their customers. It is part of the policy to increase local democracy, modernise local government and to improve local services. Tenant involvement is a vital part of the process. It gives you more say in your own affairs - as an individual or through a tenants' or residents' group. It means you can take an active part in local decisions about how your estate is run, and gives you a chance to contribute to the wider policy agenda that affects all tenants.
How we consult
The council cannot dictate how it consults. We need to work together with our tenants to find the best forms of participation for particular issues. We try to ensure that appropriate consultation is used to match the needs of different communities in different situations. We want our services to be accessible to everyone so we may aim some consultation at at, for example, younger tenants, or people from the black and ethnic minority communities.
