The Licensing Division deal with many licensing activities including the sale or supply of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment and late night refreshmement.

In addition we deal with areas such as hackney carriage and private hire licensing, gambling premises and street trading.

By clicking on one of the links on the left of the page, you will be able to access information, guidance and application forms for the various licences.

Public Registers

The folowing public registers are available for inspection by prior appointment at the offices of the Licensing Division at Ty Kier Hardie, Avenue De Clichy, Merthyr Tydfil between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. on Fridays.

Licensing Policy

The Licensing Act 2003 requires Licensing Authorities to prepare and publish a Licensing Policy which sets out the principles the Licensing Authority propose to exercise its functions under the Act.

The Policy must be reviewed every 3 years and following consultation a new Policy must be published.

We have prepared a draft Licensing Policy which can be accessed by using the link below. Copies of the new draft policy are avaliable to view at all main libraries.

How can I make a comment on the draft licensing policy?

We welcome any comments on the draft Statement of Principles. You can make comment by emailing us on licensing@merthyr.gov.uk or in writing to The Licensing Section, Ty Keir Hardie, Riverside Court, Avenue de Clichy, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8XF
