When do I have to pay my Business Rates?

Business Rates demand notices are sent out at the beginning of the financial year. These may be paid in one instalment or by 10 monthly instalments from April to January.

The date you must pay your instalment each month is shown on your Business Rates Demand notice. This is normally the 1st of each month, unless paying by Direct Debit.

If you pay in a Bank or Post Office, or send your payment through the post, please remember that we will not receive your payments for a few days. Please allow for this delay when making your payment using this method.

How can I pay my Non - Domestic Rates bill?

By Direct Debit:

This is the easiest way of paying and is the only method of payment which gives you a choice of payment date - either the 1st, 10th or 20th of the month.

Direct Debit application forms are available with your Business Rates demand notice issued to you in March each year; by contacting the Business Rates Section on 01685 725239, requesting a Direct Debit instruction; or by downloading a form (Direct Debit Application.pdf). Please return this application to the Local Authority offices at the Civic Centre. Do not give your application to the Bank or Building Society, as we will forward your application to them.
