All over the world, wildlife habitats and species are being lost at an alarming rate. We continue to use our natural environment as an everlasting resource, irrespective of the damage caused. We must take responsibility for our own actions and stop destroying our biodiversity before it is too late.
This document has been produced by the Merthyr Tydfil Biodiversity Partnership in response to the international commitment to take action at the local level for biodiversity conservation. The Partnership recognises the wonderful wealth of wildlife that exists on our own doorstep and the human pressures that are being placed on it on a daily basis.
This Plan will be used to raise awareness of the need to conserve the biodiversity that exists within the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil and encourage action to protect and manage our important habitats and species. By being sustainable and conserving biodiversity our health, education, culture and economy will benefit as well as our environment and local wildlife.
