Landscape The diversity of landscape fabric that comprises the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil is reflected in the range of advice and services offered through the Councils landscape and countryside team. Appreciation, awareness and good design are promoted through the following areas:
NEW DEVELOPMENT
The visual impact new development brings to landscape character is an important consideration when deciding upon the nature, the positioning and the overall design of new development. Many new proposals require a landscape assessment, a new landscape scheme and information on aftercare to ensure successful integration.
LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT
The landscapes we enjoy and cherish today are entirely the result of man made influences on the landscape through changing land use patterns. Some of these landscapes can only be retained in their current state or improved through active landscape management.
DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
Some of the more recent landscapes within the County Borough have been created as a result of a more positive action to design and improve the quality of the environment. Recent improvements have helped to encourage investment and improve the quality of life for all.
