Community Health and Well Being As part of our support for Corporate Health across the Local Authority EHO's participated in Men's Health Day on 22nd June. Officers presented information on Sun Awareness and Skin Cancer
Numerous leaflets are available to give advice on the precautions to be taken when exposed to the sun, particularly for those involved in outdoor work activities.
As skin cancer is almost entirely preventable , the underlying message behind the campaign was to advise people to protect themselves from exposure to the sun as far as is practicable especially during the hottest period between 11am and 3 pm. Also it is important to seek medical advice at the earliest opportunity should any changes be noticed to existing moles or areas of skin. If in doubt - Check it out!
