Fly Tipping The illegal deposit of waste materials is a growing concern : builders waste, commercial waste and household rubbish is increasingly being dumped on recreation and open land, rear lanes, highways, lay by's, etc. As well as being unsightly it attracts flies and rodents and can contaminate water courses and the land it is placed upon. Waste can be a hazard to animals and birds as well as to children if they are attracted to it. Often it is burned causing noxious fumes and further contaminating the site.
Please don't dump rubbish of any kind dispose of it properly.
The Council provides two civic amenity sites at Rocky Rd Penydarren and The Grove Aberfan to take domestic and garden waste as well as asbestos sheeting, waste oil and car batteries.
There is also a doorstep bulky waste collection for a nominal fee of £10 to collect up to 6 items with a discount for senior citizens. So get together with the neighbours and get that unwanted stuff moved Call 01685 725402 or 725138
Failure to properly dispose of waste is a serious matter and can lead to prosecution by the Public Health Department with fines of up to £20,000 under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Commercial businesses must ensure waste is taken from them by a licensed contractor who will provide a waste transfer document . Also any householder using a waste contractor should ask for a waste transfer note.
Help us to keep your district clean and rubbish free.
