Merthyr Tydfil WJEC GCSE results 2008 PR531
21st August 2008 The percentage of entries for WJEC GCSE examinations from pupils in Merthyr Tydfil increased this year by 3.6%. Of these entries 14.1% achieved the highest A* and A grades, the second highest recorded in the County Borough.
The overall percentage pass rate was very similar to last year, 96.5%, although there was a slight fall in the percentage achieving A*-C grades.
Chris Abbott, Director of Integrated Children’s Services, commented:“The young people of Merthyr Tydfil can be rightly proud of their achievements in GCSE Level examinations. It is a testament to their own hard work and to the dedication and expertise of their teachers.”

It is important to recognise that, as in every year, a large number of our students have achieved at the highest level and this is a result of their determination and hard work and of the dedication and professionalism of their teachers.
