Vintage Bus Show
As part of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council’s ‘Centenary Celebrations’ an all day Vintage Bus Show is set to take place at Merthyr Tydfil College Car Park on Sunday the 11th of September 2005 at 10.00 am until 5.00 pm.
The event will feature displays of Vintage and Modern Buses, Classic Cars, Transport Bazaar, Miniature Railway. There will also be a chance to travel on the vintage buses as part of The Coucil's free ‘Heritage Bus Trips’. Allowing visitors to travel back in time and visit many of the historic tourist attractions that Merthyr Tydfil has to offer like Cyfarthfa Park, Brecon Mountain Railway, and the Rhymney Brewery in Dowlais. There will also be a Funfair, and a Photographic Exhibitions taking place as well as various other activities throughout the day.
Merthyr Tydfil College will also be holding an ‘open day’ which will include the transport bazaar stands and exhibitions refreshments will also be available.
Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil, Councillor Jeff Edwards, said “This is a great way to celebrate the centenary of Merthyr Tydfil, by looking back in time and realizing what we have achieved over last few decades, it gives us lots of encouragement to move forward in to the next centenary and ensure that Merthyr Tydfil becomes the thriving and vibrant Heads of Valleys that it longs to be.”
Arts Officer Wayne Edwards commented “this is the first time this event has taken place and it’s with special thanks to Cardiff Preservation group, Stage coach and Merthyr Tydfil College that it has. We are hoping that the vintage Bus show will become an annual event."
