External Funding

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council - External Funding Team

The External Funding Team was established in April 2004. The team currently consists of five members:

Douglas Reid - European & External Funding Manager
Sarah Maddison - European & External Funding Co-ordinator
Zoe Thomas - European & External Funding Assistant
Carolyn Sharples - Key Fund Co-ordinator
Lindsay O'Keefe - Key Fund Support Officer

The role of the External Funding Team is to act as a Corporate coordinating resource for all external funding activity within Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. In order to achieve this objective the following elements are essential to the teams activities:

To act as the Secretariat for the Objective 1 Local Action Partnership
To assist departments in the development of innovative external funding applications
To provide training for all aspects of externally funded project management and delivery
To provide Corporate monitoring & evaluation systems for any defrayed expenditure, outputs or impacts
To provide regular project aftercare / health check visits for all projects
To disseminate accurate and up to date information regarding external funding across the Local Authority in the form of a monthly newsletter, and this website
To promote & market all external funding opportunities
To develop & maintain relationships with grant funding bodies
Promote the voluntary sector and rural key funds

What Services Do The External Funding Team Provide?

The External Funding Team can provide advice and guidance as well as support in the development of external funding applications.

Grantfinder

The External Funding Team have subscribed to an Internet based search engine called Grantfinder that enables the users to search for a vast number of grants that match the criteria that is input into the system. This is an invaluable resource and the funding team are more than happy to provide training on this system to those who are interested.

External Funding Bulletin

The External Funding Bulletin is a monthly newsletter that is produced in order to provide details of the various funding sources that are available as well as information regarding changes to current funding programmes and details of applications that have recently been approved.
