Town Centre Manager
Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre Partnership (MTTCP) was formed following the publication of a strategy for the Town Centre, ‘The Big Heart of Merthyr Tydfil’ in October 2002, which set out a new vision for Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre. Arising from the strategy was the appointment of a Town Centre Manager, to act as liaison in promoting and driving forward improvements in the Town Centre.
The Town Centre Manager's role has focused on co-coordinating the efforts, resources and interests of all stakeholders to enhance the attractiveness of the Town Centre and to promote Merthyr Tydfil as a vibrant and safe place. The Town Centre Manager also plays a pivotal role in providing support and advice to members of the Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre Partnership.
Current Priorities
Currently, the main priorities for the Town Centre Manager are focused on the following areas:
PR/Marketing – Raising the profile of the Town Centre through a co-ordinated programme of events throughout the year,(please see below).
Safety – A key priority within the Town Centre is working closely with the various town centre agencies in addressing the problems of crime and anti-social behaviour.
Cleanliness – A major concern of the Partnership is in improving the attractiveness and appearance of the Town Centre. In conjunction with other departments of the Council, great emphasis is placed on tackling the problems of litter and street cleanliness.
