Social Care Services

The Authority aims to support individuals within the community to meet their health, social care and well-being needs. This may include: supporting people with specific needs to become more independent at home and / or within the community; care and support for adults; care and support for children and their families; supporting vulnerable groups of people from abuse.

The social care services are delivered via two directorates:

What services are available?

A single point of contact for information, advice and signposting to a range of services available for older people and younger physically, learning or sensory disabled adults and carers is provided by the Adult Intake Team - Duty Service.

Integrated Childrens Services

Merthyr Tydfil Social Services Department and the Education Department have joined together to form an Integrated Children’s Services Directorate.

By creating one Directorate we seek to ensure and promote the best interests of the child, young person and their families and enable them to access a quality responsive service.

What Children Social Care Services Are Available?

A wide range of services is available to children, young people and their families. Many of these services are provided in partnership with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
