Ty Gwyn NewyddNature of the service
The mission of the service is to provide, organise and manage the support required by individuals with a learning disability/physical disability, individuals with a mental health problem and individuals who are getting older, to access valued and meaningful opportunities, during the day, in a social setting. This will include a range of day centres as well as community based facilities.
Client group and range of needs that the service is designed for Ty Gwyn Daytime Activities is predominantly a service for people who are getting older - from 65 years of age and over, both male and female.
A range of activities are on offer that focuses in the main on leisure opportunities, social interaction and the opportunity to develop skills and maintain independence. Individuals may be supported with their personal needs such as accessing toilet and bathing facilities, and support to have meals etc.
An independent support group, for individuals with Visual impairments, accesses a room once a week.

Physical access
There is good access for individuals who use a wheelchair, to the front and rear of the building. There are also bathroom and toilet facilities that have the necessary adaptations to accommodate people with disabilities.
What facilities are available?
There is a basic kitchen facility at Ty Gwyn, which is sufficient for the preparation of beverages and organsing the serving of meals provided through Meals on Wheels or food purchased locally.
A range of activities is on offer. This includes leisure activities such as arts and crafts, reminiscent work and the opportunity to socialise with others.
Bathing facilities are also available with the appropriate moving and handling equipment, including hoists being utilised.
