Residential / Nursing Home Care and Respite ServicesThe aim of Residential, Nursing Home and Respite services is to provide care and support to individuals within a variety of settings. Services are provided on a long or short term basis. We aim to develop and provide high quality care and support that meets the individual's needs. We aim to ensure that an individual lives with no reduction of their rights as citizens and upholds their right to live as full and active a life as they desire and are able.
Residential Homes provide accommodation, meals and personal care such as help with bathing and eating. Nursing homes provide similar services to residential homes with the additional support from qualified nursing staff.
We are committed to providing high quality services and, as a service user you should expect to receive the following from us:
- Services designed to meet your individual needs.
- Be fully involved in the planning and review of your individual care.
- Live in an environment which respects your needs whether they by physical, social, emotional, sexual, cultural, spiritual or political.
- Be kept informed of all events and services which affect you.
- Be involved in the running of the home in a way which ensures you are able to positively affect it.
- Be treated with courtesy and respect as you would others and have your right to privacy and confidentiality upheld.
- Be assisted with personal care needs in a sensitive and dignifying manner.
- Be treated equally regardless of the racial and ethnic origin, gender, ability, age, sexuality or religion.
- Have the right to comment or complain about the service you receive.
- To have your uniqueness as a person recognised and to be treated as an individual whose views are listened to.
- To retain your control of your life.

- Residential and Respite services for both younger and older adults with a disability.
- Rehabilitation service for persons recovering from a mental health problem.

Anyone who feels that they may need residential or nursing home care can contact the Integrated Adult Services Directorate and request an assessment of their care needs.
