Group Visits

Joseph Parry's Cottage welcomes groups.

To get the most out of your visit, experience suggests the following :-

Cottage 3

Toilets

As Joseph Parry's Cottage only has one toilet, we do not recommend that it is used as a 'toilet stop' for groups. Alternative facilities are available in Cyfarthfa Castle and in Cyfarthfa Park.

Disabled Access/Facilities

Our Museum Assistants at Cyfarthfa Castle will be happy to open the disabled access for your group, and will draw your attention to the chair lift and disabled toilets.

The ground floor of Joseph Parry's Cottage is accessible.

Parking

Free coach parking is available at Joseph Parry's cottage. Directions are provided on receipt of your booking.

Charges - Guided Tours and Talks

Admission during normal opening hours is free.

Guided tours (for groups of less than 25) or seated illustrated talks (for groups of 25 plus) can be provided at a fee.

Visits can be arranged at times when the museum is closed but a fee to cover staffing, lighting etc. is charged of £2 per person.  We need 7 days notice of an out of hours visit (please contact us for details).

Participation in 'special events' may also be charged.

Booking

Please contact Cyfarthfa Museum by telephone/fax (01685 723112) to make your booking. Confirmation will then be sent to you. Alternatively e-mail museum@merthyr.gov.uk.

Educational Visits

For Educational Visits please telephone the museum on the above number or complete the online booking enquiry form. The Education Officer may need to speak to you in order to discuss requirements/arrangements and confirm date and time for your planned visit. A form will be sent out to be signed and returned. Please contact us at least a month in advance to avoid disappointment.
